New merit badge started... One almost done.....

 Yea, Yea, Yea,  finish one before starting another.  The only thing is that the expert requirement for  Buttoned up is more challenging than you would think it is going to take some digging and treasure hunting.  I have to research the history of buttons ( in the era of my choice) and with the kinds of buttons that were worn in that time period.  Collect at least 10 different kinds of antique buttons and include one o each made from metal, wood, china, and rubber.  So to say the Adventure continues with this badge.  I  have completed the first two requirements.  one was to collect 50+ buttons, and to make a piece of jewelry. 

On to the new badge,  It is a simple sewing one.  the first requirement for this badge is to make a beginners sewing kit.  so i did 2 of them.  I have 2 friends in mind that could really use them.  Excited to get rest of badge going and also i am waiting for one of the reading requirements for the beginning Calligraphy,  got the nibs and paper now for the book.  

Got to get with Wynter to figure out what badge she wants to start for her next project.  All buttoned up was a lot of fun.  we also have to decide if we are going to put badges on an apron or a bag.  lol.  Decisions,  

I also tried and failed at a new cake recipe,  the cake was ok slightly over baked. and as for the topping tried it twice.  and yes Carmel icing is NOT my thing..  next time I decide to make this cake I am going to use my Great Grandmothers Coconut brown sugar recipe.  The cake itself was very good reminded me of a spice cake.  the name of the cake is Revered Browns Cake.  It is dated in the 1890's.  perhaps I will have to try the caramel sauce again and re read the recipe,  it is easy to overlook or take something for granted.  So sorry no picture of this cake.  Next time..     

Oh the most exciting news is i have started my Farmgirl Chapter,  We are called the Longmont Chick-es.  and yes I am almost at my 5 founding members.  whooo hooo  I am so excited.

Pineapple Upside down cupcakes.....

Wow what a beautiful winter day we had.  Got to love he mountains,  Storm heading over the mountains.  

Today I made a new recipe never made before.  I tried my hand at an all time family favorite. Pineapple upside down cupcakes.  And boy were they yummy.  will definitely make again.  Found the recipe on Pinterest.  

Last but not least,  Buttoned up merit Badge almost complete.  now to really do some digging and find the old leather, wood, and metal Buttons.  Have a couple of antique stores to go to to look.  and the Treasure Hunt continues.  

Today  I talked to a good friend and she is going to join the sisterhood.  I am so excited for her to get started.  It will be so much fun to sit and gab over coffee or tea.  So until next time have a beautiful Day.  I will try and get the upside down cupcake recipe put on here.

Buttoned Up

 WOW  what a beautiful winter day.  Started out cold then started to snow a bit.  Today I started a new Merit badge along with my Young Cultivator,   Wynter.  we started the Button collecting badge, (Buttoned up for farmgirl, and All buttoned up for Young Cultivator.)  So today was a day of treasure hunting so we did our treasure hunting at The Hidden Treasure2.  the BEST gently used crafting store in Longmont.  While digging for awesome buttons it started to snow.  so we spent more time than needed looking,  we shared the sisterhood with the owner and long time friend Sandy,  she seemed very interested.  As my quest to start a chapter here in Longmont continues.  What a great surprise I got post card from a fellow sister in Florida.  Thank you Winnie you totally made my day.  I look forward to meeting you one day.  Thank you so much.

     And here it all begins.  Day one.  The Beginning.  The commitment.  The Birth.  what ever it is, it is.  yes its the first of many days of interesting adventures (I would like to think of it that way). Well it is Christmas and no snow.  It was a great day for remembering and being thankful for all you have.  The kids had a good holiday, stayed in PJ's all day and snacked and watched movies.  Oh and we did watch the New Wonder Woman 1984, And yes it was very good.  In fact it will be one to make its way to our video library when it is able to be purchased.  Hope you enjoy my adventures as the year goes on.  I am a member of the farmgirl sisterhood and I will be sharing more of what that is and the progress  I am making on my Merit Badges,  Yes I said Merit badges.  It is like girl scouts for adults,  FUN, FUN, FUN.  This is the first of the Merit Badges Blogging.  So here it goes.  I will post pictures of the badges as I get them.  👀
